In large powerhouses, where the heaviest components to be handled can range from 100 to 1 000 tons, a single crane or a combination of 2 cranes operating independently or in tandem can be used.

In addition to the handling of extreme capacities, powerhouse cranes are required to operate with acute precision and absolute reliability due to the exorbitant costs that would be generated by powerhouse equipment damage or downtime.
During the powerhouse construction phase the reliability of the cranes is also highly critical in order to eliminate any risk of costly delays.
